Architect Support - Exterior Color Specification

Tavco Chemicals has been accepted into the Energy Star Partner program due to our work in educating and promoting infrared heat reflective pigments. Tavco is set up to work with Architects, Building Owners, Applicators, and Coating Manufacturers in providing information and technical assistance in choosing exterior pigments that will provide the highest reflective values. The benefits that can be achieved by working with Tavco Chemicals are as follows:

  • Longer lasting coatings
  • Colors that fade less
  • Reduced energy costs
  • Keep exterior surfaces cooler
  • Provide points under the LEED building standards

LEED stands for "Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design" and was created by the USGBC (U.S. Green Building Council) as a framework for providing standards for developing high-performance, sustainable buildings. Many Cities such as Santa Monica, CA, San Jose, CA, Seattle, WA, Pleasanton, CA, and Phoenix, AZ, are adopting the LEED standards as their City Standards. Entire states are also moving in that direction as well. The New Title 24 Building Code in California includes a large number of LEED standards. On June 17, 2005, the Governor of Nevada followed the example set by the state of Washington, and became the second State to require that all State funded projects meet the LEED standard.
